blankeDAQ Thermochemistry Teaching Application - Heats of Reaction

The heat of neutralisation of an acid-base reaction is calculated by subtracting the energy released when a NaOH pellet is added to 25 mL of distilled water (heat of dissolution), from the energy released when NaOH is added to 25 mL of 0.1 M HCl. A 'Coffee Cup' Calorimeter is used to measure the heats of reaction.
