Most of our data recorder systems have “Trigger” functions that allow external devices to initiate and control a recording sequence. In most cases such a trigger can either be a contact closure (CC) or a TTL level (1 and 4 Volts).
A complication arises because the trigger source and destination connections can take different physical forms so that suitable trigger cables needs to be chosen for an application.

Trigger sources can take the following physical forms:

  • BNC
  • Screw terminals
  • DB9

Trigger destinations can take the following physical forms:

  • e-corders – all have a BNC trigger inputs
  • ER225 – 2 terminals suitable for tinned end cables
  • ER280 – 2 terminals suitable for tinned end cables
  • ER18x – 2 terminals suitable for tinned end cables
  • ER430 – 2 terminals suitable for tinned end cables- Can also function as a trigger source
  • ER466 – 2 terminals suitable for tinned end cables
  • ER175 – 2 terminals suitable for tinned end cables
  • ER815/ER825 – require a modified Female DB9

Note some of the devices above can function both as trigger sources or trigger destinations for example .

  • EC008 BNC to Alligator clips – to trigger e-corder from external device with connection points
  • EC009 BNC to 4mm Banana – to trigger e-corder from external device with 4 mm sockets
  • EC060 BNC to tinned ends – to trigger e-corder from external device with screw terminals
  • EC071 Special Agilent 7100 trigger cable- DB9 male to Tinned ends. Agilent is the source destination with screw terminals. Availble also for connection to an ER815 on special oder.
  • EC072 Special Agilent 7100 trigger cable- DB9 male to BNC. Agilent (DB9) is the source, e-corder the destination
  • EC073 Modified DB9 female to BNC triggers ER8x5 from external source with BNC plug.
  • EC074 Modified DB9 to tinned ends triggers ER8x5 from external source (eg ER430) with screw terminals
  • EC091 Foot switch with BNC output for e-corder trigger
  • EC092 Push Button with BNC output for e-corder trigger
