pH Electrode Calibration and the Nernst Equation

pH Electrode Calibration and The Nernst Equation

A pH electrode is calibrated (using two pH buffers) and the Nernstian response is evaluated. Through Chart, students gain an appreciation of the theory behind potentiometric electrode calibration.

Multipoint calibration (using the Multipoint Calibration Chart extension) can also be performed with up to 12 standards, to see if the Nernstian response holds true over a broader pH range.
After calibration, the pH of chemical processes can be continuously monitored and recorded e.g. during a potentiometric titration.
