The next full meeting of the Division will be:

  • 18th Australian Electrochemistry Symposium (18AES), 15 April 2012, at Curtin University, Bentley Campus, Perth. The meeting will be a forum for the presentation and discussion of research on all aspects of electrochemistry. The symposium will feature three award lectures by the 2012 recipients of the Electrochemistry Division’s medals. Contributed lectures and posters are invited. See details below.

The 18th Australian Electrochemistry Symposium (AES) will be held at Curtin University, Bentley Campus, Perth, on Sunday 15th April 2012. The meeting will be a forum for the presentation and discussion of research on all aspects of electrochemistry. The symposium will feature three award lectures by the 2012 recipients of the Electrochemistry Division’s medals. Contributed lectures and posters are invited.


This one-day, ISE-sponsored, symposium immediately precedes the 10th Spring Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE) to be held at the University of Western Australia. Transport of delegates from the AES to the ISE meeting’s evening registration and reception will be provided.

The scientific program of  18th AES will consist of keynote lectures by the Electrochemistry Division’s medal awardees, contributed lectures, and poster presentations:


    08:00    Registration.
                Keynote Lecture – Breyer Medallist: Prof. Joseph Wang (UCSD, USA).
                Contributed presentations
                Keynote lecture – A.M. Bond medallist: Dr. Jie Zhang (Monash).
        Lunch and poster session
                Keynote lecture by R.H. Stokes Medallist: Prof. Justin Gooding (UNSW).
                Contributed presentations
    16:00     Close of Symposium and transport by coach to ISE meeting at UWA.


Abstracts


Abstracts for contributed lecture and poster presentations are now invited. The organising committee is especially interested in receiving abstracts for presentations form PhD research students and other early-career researchers. Authors should indicate whether they have a preference for lecture or poster presentation, but the final decision on acceptance and presentation format will be made by the organising committee.


Abstracts should be a maximum length of one page (A4),  and formatted according to the abstract template,  as a Microsoft Word file ,or ‘.rtf’ attachment. Abstract subissions for oral presentations are now closed.

Poster abstract submission has been extended until 15 February.

Registration is available online via the RACI website.

Registration fees are:

   *Early bird rates apply before 15 March 2012.

Note that:

  • RACI members must first login to the RACI website in order to receive the discounted rate for RACI members.
  • Student RACI members must email their registration details to Ben Fletcher in order to receive the correct discounted rate.
  • ISE members must email their registration details to Ben Fletcher in order to receive the discounted rate for ISE members.


Location, transport and accommodation


The 18th AES will be held at the new Resources and Chemistry Precinct at Curtin University, located at the southern end of Curtin University’s Bentley campus, Building 500 on the University campus map.

Free parking will be available in the car parks adjacent to the Resources and Chemistry Precinct Building.

Use the Transperth Journey Planner for details of public transport. The Curtin University Bus Station is a 10 minute walk from the Resources and Chemistry Precinct.

For greatest convenience delegates can use the same accommodation as for the  ISE meeting which starts the following day.


Important dates

     31 December 2011:   Deadline for abstract submission.
     15 February 2012:     Notification of paper acceptance.
     15 March 2012:          Deadline for early-bird registration (reduced fee).
     15 April 2012:             Symposium.

The Bruno Breyer Medal, for internationally-recognized contributions in the field of electrochemistry, and the R.H. Stokes Medal, for distinguished research in the field of electrochemistry carried out mainly in Australia, are periodically awarded at meetings of the Division. Please forward nominations to the EDRACI Secretary.
