Chromatography

Many brands and models of chromatograph can be connected to either an e-corder system, using Chart or PowerChrom software, or a PowerChrom system.

For simple preparative chromatography you may find e-corder with Chart software meets your requirements. The simple user interface mimics the controls of a paper recorder but signals are recorded with much greater accuracy, and of course are stored safely on your computer.

For analytical chromatography PowerChrom is recommended. It supports multiple method and calibration documents and can be used for sophisticated chromatographic analysis.

Contactless Conductivity

The C4D (contactless conductivity detector) can be used as a detector in ion chromatography (IC) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Installation is easy as the HPLC/IC tubing (1/16 inch, 1/32 inch or other) is simply fed into the ET125 General Purpose headstage. The ER225 C4D Data System is then used with PowerChrom software to record the conductivity of the solution following though the tubing. See this application note for details. The C4D was used for the determination of underivatized long chain fatty acids using RP-HPLC (doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2009.11.030).
